Beyond Bizarre: Jimmy Walker Has A Space Photography Website Called DarkSkyWalker

I couldn’t believe this when I hear it first but after a little searching I managed to find www.darkskywalker.com, Jimmy Walker’s own astro-photography site.

jimmy walker and telescopeThe site is full of wonderful iamges of celestial bodies, galaxies and nebulas.  The ‘about’ section confirms we are dealing with the one and same PGA Tour player Jimmy Walker who has just won his second event of the 2014 season.

My name is Jimmy Walker.  I am a husband, father, professional golfer, car guy, and a bit of wine snob.   We live in Boerne, TX and I play golf on the PGA TOUR.  My family and I travel around quite a bit each year.  We spend about 25-30 weeks a year on the road.  We travel in a large bus while on the road, keeping the family close together and giving our two boys a sense of “home”. I have enjoyed remote imaging at NMSkies which affords me the opportunity to image year round while we travel.  I have enjoyed this very much.  I do miss being under the stars.

In order to pursue his passion Walker has invested $50,000 into his photography equipment and is also sponsored by  Celestron Telescopes.

jimmy Walker website“As a kid I remember having a telescope and looking at the Moon, Saturn and Jupiter,” Walker recalls in a Celestron blog post. “Now, we have a house with a big backyard, and I thought it would be fun to get a telescope again.

“My fascination started with looking up, and from there it evolved to attaching a camera and taking long exposures. Two and a half years down the road, here we are taking really cool images.”

“Having an artistic background, or an artistic side to you, helps. My style is changing a little bit. I used go very vibrant. I keep learning about color balance, so now I’ve started to go a little more natural. I’ve gone back and reprocessed my earlier images so they look more natural, show more detail, and have better color balance."

“It's all art, its what you want it to look likeâ€"no one knows what these objects look like. There’s no right or wrong, it’s your artistic impression. I just try to make them appear how I think they would look if you could actually see them.

Didn’t I always say Jimmy went under the radar?  I meant over it. Far over it.

The media centre at the 2013 PGA Show was buzzing yesterday.  Not because of anything that happened at the show.  God forbid! When I rocked in, several men (and one woman) were gathered around an iphone ogling and sharing  two pics of who they claimed were Holly Sonders naked. Now I have to hold my hands up and say, I had to google her to find out she’s from The Golf Channel. Sarah Stirk Nipple Gate: Navy Top Leaves Viewers Disappointed

London: Sky Sports management this morning issued a statement  apologizing to subscribers after Sarah Stirk wore a navy dress live on air.  It is believed up to 60,000 horny golfers were left limp after they tuned in to final round coverage of the Valero Texas Open in the hope of getting a glimpse of the legendary Stirk starter buttons. “I pay my subscription, I’m bloody well entitled to see Sarah’s Wimbledon strawberries” said factory worker Paul Manning 52 from Hereford. “I even missed the ten minute freeview, coz my mate Derek tweeted that Stirk was going into the shot centre for ten minutes at 11pm”. The Sky statement read: We apologize unreservedly for the navy dress Sarah wore during last nights broadcast, through which no nipples were visible. This was due to a wardrobe malfunction. However we do intend to rectify this during our US Masters coverage and assure viewers that plenty of bridge rivets will be on show, both from Sarah and special guest Colin Montgomeri

Holly Sonders Quits Golf Channel After Contract Talks Fail. Moves To Fox.

Tissues at the ready guys as this will come as a shock to you all that Holly Sonders , the female face of the Golf Channel, has quit and reportedly taken a job with Fox Sports. According to  reports Sonders, who appeared regularly on “Morning Drive” since 2011, could not come to an agreement on a new contract deal with the Golf Channel and was quickly snapped up by Fox Sports where she is expected to work on golf and NFL.
