Video: Ian Poulter Bones Wood Off Fairway Into Pond. Struggling.

It was the pairing that most Europeans were a little nervous about; rookie Stephen Gallacher and Ian Poulter who had been hyped up to the maximum before the Ryder Cup but who by his own admission hadn't been playing his best.

Its fair to say everyone hoped that in the pressure cooker Poults would perform but with Stephen struggling a little to find his rhythm on day one, the Englishman found himself having to shoulder a little more responsibility than his game could handle.

This shot summed up the struggle for me. Four down and in the middle of the fairway Poults went for the green in two.  It was a massive ask.

Poults and Gallacher ended up losing 5&4 to Pat Reed and Jordan Spieth.
