Dont Lean On Poults At Gleneagles. It Hasn't Been A Good 2014

Ian Poulter is a Ryder Cup hero.  Who will ever forget his heroics in Chicago in 2012?
That amazing performance with Rory McIlroy on Saturday in the fourballs and that shot from behind the tree on 18 in the singles which did for Webb Simpson. But before we get too reliant on Poults this time around, it has to be said he hasn't been playing well.

Although he did sign off with a 66 in the final round of the Deutsche Bank and finish in a tie for 23rd, Poulter has had a poor Summer by his standards. Missed cuts at the Scottish Open then the Open Championship and The Barclays in the Playoffs were only punctuated by an over par performance at the WGC Bridgestone and a pretty non descript PGA Championship.

Lee Westwood had similar sentiments when he spoke on Saturday.

"I think it's a lot to ask of him to do the same as he did last time. He turned the whole momentum of the Ryder Cup around on that Saturday night so let's not put too much pressure on him with that, but certainly he seems to be able to raise his game for a Ryder Cup."

Let's hope it can happen for Poults all over again.
