New Shotlink "Strokes Gained Tee To Green" Stat Explained
I'm a big shotlink fan and was interested to hear that the statisticians are to add a new called "strokes gained tee to green" to the list.
So how is it calculated?
It's very similar to the strokes gained putting stat; the number of strokes a player makes up on the field thanks to his putting.
If the par is 72 and Rory McIlroy goes around in 65 with a strokes gained putting clip of 2, then his strokes gained tee to green stat for the round would be 5, meaning he gained those 5 strokes on the field from tee-to-green.
The new stat will compliment 'greens in regulation' but should see the best combined driving and iron players more consistently at the top than the GIR stat which can tend be skewed.
