How many times has it happened that a player doesn't check his scorecard and gets DQ'd?

However, that dream of heading to Pinehurst was quickly turned into a nightmare.

Michelson had ended two under at Quail Valley Golf Club but his partner stuck him down for a par on the 11th hole in the second round where he made bogey. He then signed for a 70 instead of the correct 71 and was DQ'd.

What made it worse was that Michelson only got into the sectional qualy as an alternate after Freddie Jacobson withdrew.

As the qualifier moved on and the wait to see got the Pinehurst spots was centered on the public scoreboard, Michelson's caddie noticed his score was listed as three under 141 and not the correct two under 142.

He immediately reported it to officials and took his DQ like a man.

Here's Landon interviewed on Morning Drive.
