2014 BMW International Open Betting Preview And Tips
Golf Club Gut Lärchenhof, Köln, Germany 26 Jun 2014 - 29 Jun 2014

Favourite Preview

Martin Kaymer 7/1

The home favourite will have a whole bunch of media obligations this week yet will start favourite and justifiably so having won at Pinehurst and before that at Sawgrass.  Kaymer is also a past winner of the BMW International Open in 2008 and scored T4 in 2013 but those events were both staged at Eichenreid.  A word of warning, this year the event returns to Gut Larchenhof where Martin missed the cut in 2012.

Doc’s Top 5 To Watch

(subject to withdrawals pre tournament)

1.       Henrik Stenson 8/1

A big win is coming soon for Henrik, pinpointing exactly when it will happen it the tough thing. Has finished seventh or better in four of his last five starts including China (T5), Wenworth (T7), Malmo (5th) and Pinehurst (T4).  The Swede has also finished in the top 10 in the last three stagings of this event  and was T6 when the event was last staged on this course in 2012.

2.       Ross Fisher 40/1

The best putte r on the European Tour last week, Ross Fisher managed to transform an average week tee to green into a T8 finish.  That will have given him confidence having missed successive cuts in Malmo and Wentworth.  Four top 10’s since 2008 at the event includes a T8 at Larchenhof in 2012.  One to watch if he can straighten out a little.

3.       4.       Marcel Siem 40/1

With his second baby just born Monday it’s going to be very tough for local boy Marcel to get his head in the game this week.  Rallied on Sunday to a finish T14 in Fota Island to go with excellent recent form including  a T12 at the US Open and T7 at Wentworth.  Always a grinder at home in Germany, Marcel has three top 15’s in the last three stagings with a best of T6 here in 2012.

5.       Edoardo Molinari 33/1

Edoardo is finally coming back to the kind of form we all know he possesses.  Watched him for at least a half hour on the range on Wednesday and he was hitting the ball better than anyone.  His solo second at the Irish Open represented a progression that started with decent weeks at the Open De Espana and BMW PGA Championship and improved to a T18 at the Nordea Masters.  I’m sure he cannot wait to get going again this week.

< span style="font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Best Of The Rest. Long Odds Glory

Mike Hoey 80/1

A fine 66 last Sunday elevated Mike to a very satisfying T8 finish at his home open and he brings excell ent driving and iron form to Germany this week.  Certainly one to watch at longer odds.
2012 but finished just outside the top 10.

Fabrizio Zanotti 90/1

The Paraguayan’s excellent form continued with a T14 at the Irish Open, where he was statistically among the best driver and GIR merchants in the field.  T5 in Austria, T16 in Wentworth and solo third at the tragic event in Madeira.  I recall Fabrizio had a skin full of birdies and a couples of eagles in the first round at Larchenhof in 2012 and finished just outside the top 10 on that occasion.

Richard Finch 150/1

Finchy made the cut in Austria and improved to a T8 at the Irish Open with a masterful display of driving and iron play.  If he can keep that going expect another good finish this week.
