2014 FedEx St. Jude Classic Betting Tips, Predictions and Power Rankings
2014 Fed Ex St. Jude Classic Betting Preview and Tips
TPC Southwind, Memphis Tennessee.
Rested after his T5 at Colonial, Palmer returns for another tilt at TPC Southwind, a course which has been good to him over the past couple of seasons. T3 when Dustin Johnson won in 2012 and fourth on his own last season when Harris English won. Came close to a win with a T2 at The Honda in March and had a good week in Houston in April.
On paper this course should play right into Leeâs hands with its premium on being long and accurate off the tee while giving a little back when it comes to greenside difficulty. And so it proved when he won here in 2010 edging Robert Garrigus and Robert Karlsson in a playoff. Westie is coming in with good form too, a solo 7th at Augusta was followed by a win in Malaysia and T35 at the BMW PGA in Wentworth. Should also be gaming his winning Ping G10 off the tee this week.
For no other reason than Luke started The Memorial with a 75 but found something from somewhere to not only make the cut but card rounds of 69, 66 and 70 for a T8 finish. Iâm a sucker for guys who find the secret and I know heâll be itching to get back in action this week. Made the cut here last year.
A T37 at Muirfield Village represented a first made cut in five starts for the spider man and comes just in time for the St. Jude where he has played solidly in the past. A T8 in 2010 was followed by his recent best of T3 in 2011 and a T10 last year. Should be around 8/1 âto finish in the top 10â with the bookies and thatâs a bet that might be worth considering.
Freddie Jacobson is available at around the 100/1 mark on the exchanges and is a Southwind veteran with five top 20âs from 12 starts. Tied third at Colonial a couple of weeks back.
Padraig Harrington at 120/1 is still struggling to make it back to the top, and without a US Open start will be grinding hard here. Recent best of T4 in 2008, T13 in 2012 and T10 in 2013 which is pretty impressive on this 7,239 yard par 70.
Made his first appearance since The Masters at the Nordea Masters and made it all the way to the playoff, only losing to Thongchai Jaideeâs birdie. The Frenchman finished with a clip of 34th in driving accuracy, first in distance and sixth in greens in regulation; all of which if reproduced in Memphis will reap big rewards on the most difficult par 70 on the Tourâs roster.
