2014 US Open Betting: Statistically The 5 Best Scramblers At Pinehurst
An insightful quote from Phil Mickelson about Pinehurst being all about scrambling got me thinking as to who are the best scramblers in the field.
With guys going in with longer irons than normal and others trying to come from waste areas, Phil is right, hitting the greens will be tough and scrambling will be key.
So who are the best in the business on the PGA Tour? And is Phil Mickelson in there? Let's then look at the Top 5 in the US Open Field.

1. Jim Furyk
Interesting to see that one of my betting picks for the tournament Jim Furyk is the best scrambler on Tour with a clip of 69.85%. Of the top 10 only Sergio Garcia misses less greens than Furyk. 30/1 odds. I predict a place finish for Furyk. Do you agree? Vote below.
2.Kevin Na
A completely different prospect this year after addressing his slow play issues, Na is coming off a playoff loss to Hideki Matsuyama at The Memorial. Only his fourth US Open with a best of T29 at Olympic Club in 2012. Odds are 125/1
3. Justin Leonard
Leonard is a 300/1 shot for the US Open because yes he is good scrambler, he has to be because he misses the most greens. So far has up and downed 290 times from a whopping 442 attempts.
4. Sergio Garcia
An intriguing entry on the list. Sergio has only missed 142 greens this year and has secured par 92 of those. Granted, he has played less rounds than the others in the top 10 but it's still highly impressive. Add into the mix that Garcia was T5 in 2005 at Pinehurst, and you have a great case for the Spaniard. He's 33/1.
5. Matt Kuchar
Kuch has been in the top 30 in the last four US Opens with a best of T6 at Pebble in 2010. Won recently too at the RBC Heritage. Current holder of the title best player not to win a Major. 28/1

âIf nobody hit a green, I feel like my chances are the best,â he said. âIâm excited about the prospect of a U.S. Open that has (the) short game as such an important element.â
