Tiger Fronts Up On Tough Course. Does This Prove Heâs Gearing For Majors?
Between 16 and 19 under has won at Doral over the past five years. This time around with the new GilHansements, TPC Blue Monster is playing more like the name suggests with all but a handful of the field carding at least one double bogey or worse during the first three rounds. Brett Rumford carded an 11 in his first round and Sergio Garcia took a nine yesterday.
The scoreboard has all the carnage of a US Open.
Tiger shot up the field with a 66 on moving day but itâs his second round of 73 that more interested me. Still learning the new layout having not played a practice round, Woods found the water three times on Friday and was seven over through 12 holes yet still hung in for a 73, thanks to a display of putting straight out his heyday
And all this just days after he walked off the course at The Honda.
Through three rounds, according to shotlink stats, Woods has hit 78 percent of the greens in regulation and gained a whopping 3.82 strokes on the greens.
So does this mean Woods is finally ready to cross the whitewash at the Majors again?
I think todays final round will tell a tale. Woods lies three back of Patrick Reed with names like Mahan, Dufner and the two Johnsons all well in the mix.
Golf hasnât been this exciting in a while!
