It’s Difficult Second Album Time For Rory After Brilliant 63

Rory McIlroy’s 63 in the first round of the Honda Classic was like a massive stomp on the toe of the PGA Tour to say hey guys I’m back

McilroyAs pretty much every other player (including second placed Russell Henley) found water here, there and everywhere, Rory went on a serene trip down the boardwalk fairways of PGA National, going without a single bogey on his card.

Today however comes the ‘difficult second album time’ for McIlroy.

A solid second round of say, 67,  would surely distance himself from the rest of the field and set up the possibility of a repeat of his 2012 win.

He’ll know he has to follow up that impressive round on Thursday with another solid round on Friday to halt his recent run on the PGA Tour of weak rounds after impressive ones.  It happened six times last year; including at the WGC HSBC Champions in November when a Thursday 65 was followed with a 72.  Already this season at the Dubai Desert Classic in January, Rory shot a 63 in round one and followed it with a 70.

So super start Rors, fingers crossed you can build on it today.
