Pollen Induced Hay Fever Allergy Smothers Bubba Into Withdrawing from Arnieâs Tournament
Poor old Bubba Watson is a well known allergy sufferer and was so smothered in the pollen rich atmosphere at Bay Hill that he chose to withdraw following his first round at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
The pre tournament favourite battled bravely to an 83, which included an 11 on the sixth hole and left him 21 shots back of leader Adam Scott.
Bubba spoke of his ongoing battle with allergies last year.
"I don't play Tampa anymore because of allergies. Every day of my life I take allergy pills, nose spray and eye drops. With the stuff flying around, it's just allergy stuff. When I get hot, trying to cool my neck so that my body is not producing a bunch of junk."
It remains to be seen whether this will affect Bubbaâs confidence heading towards the Masters. Up until today he was bringing the form of his life to a course he won on in 2012.
