Well Done Danny On The Double

Dan Sugrue All the focus might be on the Ryder Cup this week but let’s have three cheers for Killarney professional Daniel Sugrue who captured his second PGA assistants crown at Balcarrick last week, a feat only achieved in the past by a handful of players.

Such is the recessionary bite however that Danny couldn’t make the trip to Q-School this year and instead has set his sights on winning the Irish PGA Championship at Mount Juliet in October. Simon Thornton defends the biggest title in domestic golf which was also won five times during the noughties by Padraig Harrington.

There Danny will also face GCD’s own Barrie Trainor who kept his European Tour dream alive at Q-School last week.

The 102nd Irish PGA Championship takes place from Oct 11 - Oct 14, 2012 at Mount Juliet Golf Club. Click here for the tournament page
