2013 Tampa Bay Championship Betting Preview,Tips and Power Rankings
The Transitions have gone but the tournament survives for another year.
Robert Garrigus 46/1 let me down so badly last week in Doral, but letâs hope that was just a minor aberration. It was his first event in six outside the top 22. Garrigus missed a seven footer in the playoff here last year second before Donald canned a similar length putt for the win.

1. Adam Scott 16/1
For the past two seasons Scott has gone straight from the WGC Cadillac to Augusta, so heâs obviously changing up his schedule to get more game time. This will be only his third strokeplay start of the season after his 10th at the Northern Trust and T3 last week at Doral. Hard to argue with the form even if his last two visits here (2010, 2009) were forgettable.2. Webb Simpson 19/1
A major champ but one who goes very much under the radar. Simpson has been enjoying decent recent form with a sixth at Riviera, a good run at the matchplay then a top 20 at Doral. Likes the Innisbrook par 71 layout, scoring three top-13âs in the past three years. His best result came in 2011 where only Gary Woodland pipped him by a shot.3. Sergio Garcia 17/1
The Snake Pit adds to one of the toughest par 71âs on the PGA Tour with a requirement for straight driving on the tree lined fairways and pinpoint irons. Right up Sergioâs alley so, you would think, but with finishes of 16th and 15th in the past two seasons, heâs just missing that spark. This time around however, the Spaniard brings into the event form including second in Qatar and tied third in Doral. Real possibilities.4. Jim Furyk 36/1
Itâs Jimâs fifth strokeplay start of the year and itâs hard to tell if those demons that dogged him last year are still there. Heâs been solid to date with a worst result (in my ledger) of 35th which came last week. This week will tell a lot however as this Innisbrook course is custom built for Furyk. The 2010 Transitions kicked off a three win season for him culminating in the Tour Championship, but he hasnât tasted victory since. Tied for second last season after a four way playoff where Luke Donald prevailed.5. Scott Piercy 40/1
Scott Piercy is one those guys who can just go on a roll and produce a wonder round that shoots him up the leaderboard. His third in Phoenix recently was a case in point with a Sunday 61. And last year here at Copperhead, Piercy shot a final round 62 to surge into a tie for fifth. Solid last week at Doral, itâll be interesting to see how he performs.Best Of The Rest
Jason Dufner 25/1 is another of those who goes about his business quietly and he returned from a disappointing Honda Classic with a T12 at the WGC Cadillac. A pair of 66âs saw Dufner at the business end of proceedings after two rounds last year but he faded at the weekend to a T10. Expect more birdies than smiles!Robert Garrigus 46/1 let me down so badly last week in Doral, but letâs hope that was just a minor aberration. It was his first event in six outside the top 22. Garrigus missed a seven footer in the playoff here last year second before Donald canned a similar length putt for the win.
