The course

conway-farms_thumb1Conway Farms Golf Club opened for play on August 3, 1991. The Tom Fazio award-wining course sits on 209 acres in Lake Forest, Illinois and is designed around the traditions of Scottish links golf.

2013_BMW_CHAMPIONSHIP_thumbThe course will play just over 7,140 yards with a par 70.  Open  mixed with tree lined holes are intermixed. WIND is an almost constant factor at Conway Farms.

Jordan Spieth 28/1

spieth_thumbJordan Spieth’s credentials have to be respected in this, only his 30th tournament as a professional.   Not only  has he notched up eight top 10’s this season including a win at The John Deere Classic, and a tied second at The Wyndham, but Spieth has continued to impress in the Playoffs with a top 20 at The Barclays and a tied fourth at The Deutsche Bank in Boston last time out.  Being that he’s a Texan and already won down the road in TPC Deere Run in Illinois, Jordan should be licking his chops at the prospect of a return to the wind this week.

Graham DeLaet 40/1

delaet_thumbWhat a finish to the season DeLaet is having. After missing cuts at his home open and the US PGA Championship the Canadian clicked at The Barclays tying second and continued that strong form at The Deutsche Bank with a solo third. There are a lot of unknowns heading to this virgin venue in Illinois, but DeLaet looks to be the form dog right now.

Jim Furyk 40/1

Fjim furyk funny[4]_thumburyk might not have won since the 2010 Tour Championship but he continues to impress in the Playoffs. Shot a stunning third round 63 at the Deutsche Bank to rocket up the leaderboard and into the top 10. Slipped on Labor Day to final tied 27th breaking his run of four consecutive top 10’s. Seems the fat Super Stroke grip has reinvented Furyk’s putting game and on a par 70 he’s always dangerous.

Sergio Garcia 33/1

sergio_thumbIt hasn’t been a vintage year for Sergio and indeed his indifference to the game can be tough to watch at times but on the flip side he hasn’t missed a cut all season and is playing much better of late. A Sunday 75 sullied an otherwise good Barclays performance and he kicked on with some super golf to tied fourth at The Deutsche Bank. The Conway Farms layout with a constant wind seems a ball striker’s track and Sergio is about as good as they come in that department.

Ryan Moore 100/1

ryan moore rick bobby funny pic_thumb[1]_thumb[1]_thumb[1]Keep an eye out for the progress of Ryan Moore this week at long odds. The Shriners winner in October 2012 has progressed to the final 70 of the Playoffs again and I fancy a strong showing this week. Tied 10th last year at Crooked Stick and has a recent best of tied third in 2010 at Cog Hill.
