2013 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Betting Preview Tips and Predictions

Stephen Gallacher 33/1

funnyGreat news that Uncle Bernard has been released from hospital after his heart attack. Stephen is a former winner of the event in 2004 and was also at the business end of the tournament last season tying fifth. Tied second in Gleneagles and top 10'd ’n Crans Sur Sierre in the last few weeks. Already a winner on Tour this season.

Simon Dyson 25/1

There are so many variables at the Alfred Dunhill Links with three different courses and varying weather conditions but Simon Dyson is a perennial performer. His three top 10’s in the last four stagings include a win in 2009. Simon has been in great form since July and ran it close in France and in Holland. Big chance this week.

Martin Kaymer 25/1

kaymer funnyI like Kaymer on links and he seems to like this informal format too. Tied second in 2008 when Robert Karlsson beat himself and Ross Fisher in a playoff then won the event in 2010. No missed cut since May and hinted at form in Germany and Firestone but the season has yet to ignite for the German. His brother Philip is a handy player too!

Ross Fisher 25/1

ross funnyCame closest as mentioned above in that playoff in 2008 but has two other top 15’s since in 2010 and 2012. Still looking for that win his improvement in form has warranted after great performances in Switzerland (T5) and Holland (T3).

Best Of The Rest

If you are looking for a long odds shot this week try Danny Willett 50/1. It’s Dan’s 123rd Tour start this week and though he has missed a few cuts recently, seems to like the links. The 2012 BMW International Open winner tied for fifth in 2012 and was second on his own behind Kaymer in 2010.

higgs funnyI’ll be backing our own GCD contributor David Higgins at expected odds of 80/1 this week. David got a call from Dunhill this morning inviting him to the event and he’ll relish the opportunity to bring his great form from Italy (T2) onto his favourite terrain links.

Jumped from 167th to 111th in the Race To Dubai with some imperious putting in Torino and I expect him to retain his card and then some this week.
