Sleeper Nightmare: Augusta 7th Hole

It’s one of the shortest in Augusta but the 7th hole is also universally regarded by the players as one of the hardest.  The dead straight par four has a wicked green complex.  Geoff Shackelford tweeted a picture of the tightest driving hole on the property, even though a couple of trees left and right look to have come a cropper.

When I first played here, there were no trees on the left side of the seventh fairway. Now, there is nothing but trees. The seventh hole has gone from one of the more open short holes to one of the tightest little holes you’ve ever seen. It might appear from the yardage that players have the opportunity to take a breather here after three tough holes, but if you let down for a second, you can post a big number. You need an accurate tee shot with a driver, 3-wood or 1-iron, depending on what you feel comfortable with. This will leave you a short second shot to a very narrow green. Like the third hole, selecting the right club and hitting it the proper distance are key factors here. When the flagstick is on the right, I shoot directly at it. Otherwise, I aim for the gap between the bunkers behind the green. That way, if I hit the ball a little strong, I’m only on the back fringe and I can putt back down. Generally, I feel as though my second shot should be close to the hole. This is one of the great little short holes in golf. Anytime you can walk away with a birdie, you feel you’ve gained a stroke on the field.

You'll see guys hit irons or fairway woods, leaving themselves a sand wedge or 9-iron to a green that has two distinct areas to hit to: a bottom-right bowl, and a top-left shelf. There are four bunkers that guard that green, and you have to be very careful to hit the ball the right distance.

The media centre at the 2013 PGA Show was buzzing yesterday.  Not because of anything that happened at the show.  God forbid! Sarah Stirk Nipple Gate: Navy Top Leaves Viewers Disappointed

London: Sky Sports management this morning issued a statement  apologizing to subscribers after Sarah Stirk wore a navy dress live on air.  It is believed up to 60,000 horny golfers were left limp after they tuned in to final round coverage of the Valero Texas Open in the hope of getting a glimpse of the legendary Stirk starter buttons. “I pay my subscription, I’m bloody well entitled to see Sarah’s Wimbledon strawberries” said factory worker Paul Manning 52 from Hereford. “I even missed the ten minute freeview, coz my mate Derek tweeted that Stirk was going into the shot centre for ten minutes at 11pm”. The Sky statement read: We apologize unreservedly for the navy dress Sarah wore during last nights broadcast, through which no nipples were visible. This was due to a wardrobe malfunction. Holly Sonders Quits Golf Channel After Contract Talks Fail. Moves To Fox.

Tissues at the ready guys as this will come as a shock to you all that Holly Sonders , the female face of the Golf Channel, has quit and reportedly taken a job with Fox Sports. According to  reports Sonders, who appeared regularly on “Morning Drive” since 2011, could not come to an agreement on a new contract deal with the Golf Channel and was quickly snapped up by Fox Sports where she is expected to work on golf and NFL.
