Rory Not Impressed With Tiger’s 450 Squats If It Means He Cant Play

It’s hard to tell who is the 38 year old here and who is the young whipper snapper.
Rory McIlroy may have revealed a little more of his own personal thoughts than he bargained for (as reported in the Daily Mail) when he turned into the wise old sage on Tiger Woods injury and obsession with the gym.

“There definitely has to be a balance, said McIlroy. You want to train and push your body to the limits but at the end of the day you are a golfer.
I came across this incredibly strenuous thing called CrossFit and told Caroline I’d love to do it in the off-season for endurance and strength.
She just said: “You are a golfer”. It sort of hit me, yes I’m a golfer first and foremost. It’s a hobby to go to the gym and set personal bests, but does it make you a better golfer?
Tiger has obviously taken that to a new level, where he didn’t just want to be the best golfer in the world. He wanted to train with Navy Seals because that is his  personality, but there is a fine line with your health. If you don’t have that, you don’t win tournaments.
It is not about being able to squat 450 times, it is about getting the ball in the hole.”

Indeed it is not.  But I’m sure Mr Woods will be storing that one  in the memory bank for next time they meet.
In the meantime Rory finds himself drawn with Jordan Spieth and Pat Reed in the first round of The Masters. Full draw here.
