Inbee Park is on the verge of making history and nobody seems to care

This week, most golf fans will be tuned in to another World Golf Championships event, hoping to see a Tiger Woods win, or a Phil Mickelson three-peat or maybe even a Rory McIlroy resurgence, but if you're station is tuned to that instead of what is happening across the pond, you're doing it wrong.

Inbee Park is attempting to be the first LPGA player ever to win four consecutive Grand Slams in the same calendar year, wrapping up what most consider to be a Grand Slam despite the LPGA adding the Evian Championship to the major championship schedule this season (now the LPGA has five majors, unlike the four they've had since 1983). Only Mickey Wright, Tiger Woods and Bobby Jones have won four majors in a row, with the first two doing it over two different seasons and Jones doing it back when some amateur events were considered majors.

So why doesn't anyone seem to care about this feat? Park has been absolutely incredible this year, winning six times on the LPGA including the three majors that she added to her incredible career at the ripe age of 25. Park is a 9-to-2 favorite at St. Andrews, meaning she's sitting in Tiger land with the backing to pull off her fourth major.

Tiger was asked about Park this week at Firestone, saying, "It's pretty great to see someone out there doing something that has never been done," and even Park herself has mentioned that it's been "scary" how good she's become on the golf course and with the lead.

Now the problem - will fans really care if she pulls this off? Check out the media center from earlier this week when Park took the podium. Could you imagine that many empty chairs if Tiger or Rory or Brandt Snedeker were going for their fourth consecutive major championship in the same season? Journalists would be lapping it to get a word in with such a player.

The LPGA has done an incredible job at rebranding what they do, and most of that can be attributed to Mike Whan, the commissioner and man that always sees the angle before the rest of us do. But it still seems that the tour doesn't get the respect it deserves.

Golf fans want to see good golf. They want to see people do things that didn't seem achievable. That's why we watched Tiger hobble on one leg at Torrey Pines, and why we watched McIlroy bounce back from a Masters disaster to lap the field at the U.S. Open. It's why the 1986 Masters will go down as one of the best majors of all time and why we were so infatuated with that shot Bubba Watson pulled off a season ago at Augusta National.

Park is right in the mix of all of that, winning major after major by strolling along, hitting fairways, making putts and showing that while that killer instinct isn't outward visible, it lies within her just like a Tiger or a Jack or a Roger.

If you do one thing this week, flip on the LPGA (the first two rounds kick off on ESPN2 at 9 AM ET and Saturday and Sunday at 10 AM ET) and watch Park go for history. It might not be Dustin Johnson hitting a 390 yard drive or Keegan Bradley pulling off a shot you could only dream of hitting, but we root for the story, we want to see history and it might just happen at the home of golf.

Could you imagine a better setting for a Grand Slam? St. Andrews and Inbee Park. If you aren't paying attention, you should start.
