Video: Cheating Chella Choi Caught Red Handed Moving Her Ball in LPGA Event. Withdraws
Chella Choi was left without a leg to stand on at the LPGA's Canadian Pacific Womenâs Open when she was caught red handed moving her ball over an inch on the green.
Video showed that when Choi was getting ready to tap in a putt on the 10th green her ball was resting on the right side of the mark. After picking up her ball, she then replaced it on the left side of the marker, moving it over an inch.
A TV viewer spotted the infringement and phoned in.
However when confronted with the evidence after, Choi refused to accept a two shot penalty and instead withdrew from the tournament. How brazen is that?
âThe player lifted her ball, and when replacing her ball put the ball not in the same place from which it was lifted,â officials explained. âThat is a violation of Rule 16-1b, which carries a two-stroke penalty if the mistake is not corrected before the stroke (Rule 20-6).â
Every cloud has a liver lining as they say and with Choi's withdrawal an extra 17 players made the halfway cut!
Cheating never pays.
