Michael Hoey: Forced to withdraw in Denmark after wrongly assuming he had missed cut

Michael Hoey was forced to withdraw from the Made in Denmark Open after incorrectly assuming he had missed the halfway cut.

The Northern Irishman â€" a five-time winner on the European Tour â€" finished on four-over after his opening two rounds (73-73) and thought he would not qualify for weekend action.

As such he flew from Aalborg in Denmark to Amsterdam only to discover on arrival that he had made the cut after a bogey from James Heath in Friday’s final group.

Hoey then attempted to book a return flight but was informed that his clubs had been lost in transit by the airline.

Unable to recover them in time to board the only flight that would have enabled him to make Saturday morning’s early tee-time, he was subsequently forced to withdraw from the event.

An exasperated Hoey took to Twitter to explain his predicament, writing: “Home after a nightmare 24hrs, left Aalborg for Amsterdam, arrived watched scores made cutt (sic). KLM lost my clubs, missed flights back.”

However, there was some good news for him as he added: “Couldn't get private jet, train, car or any other way back so came home! At least I found my clubs this morning at Schiphol #silverlinnings (sic).”

The media centre at the 2013 PGA Show was buzzing yesterday.  Not because of anything that happened at the show.  God forbid! Sarah Stirk Nipple Gate: Navy Top Leaves Viewers Disappointed

London: Sky Sports management this morning issued a statement  apologizing to subscribers after Sarah Stirk wore a navy dress live on air.  It is believed up to 60,000 horny golfers were left limp after they tuned in to final round coverage of the Valero Texas Open in the hope of getting a glimpse of the legendary Stirk starter buttons. “I pay my subscription, I’m bloody well entitled to see Sarah’s Wimbledon strawberries” said factory worker Paul Manning 52 from Hereford. “I even missed the ten minute freeview, coz my mate Derek tweeted that Stirk was going into the shot centre for ten minutes at 11pm”. Holly Sonders Quits Golf Channel After Contract Talks Fail. Moves To Fox.

Tissues at the ready guys as this will come as a shock to you all that Holly Sonders , the female face of the Golf Channel, has quit and reportedly taken a job with Fox Sports. According to  reports Sonders, who appeared regularly on “Morning Drive” since 2011, could not come to an agreement on a new contract deal with the Golf Channel and was quickly snapped up by Fox Sports where she is expected to work on golf and NFL.
