Video: 2014 AT&T Pebble Beach Final Round Highlights. Jimmy Walker Wins
Jimmy Walker may not have been flying home at Pebble Beach but such was his overnight lead, the astronomy enthusiast (with a website called DarkSkyWalker) only needed to steer the ship into dock to win his third PGA Tour event in the first eight starts of the 2014 season.
In winning the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, Walker wrote himself into the record books as one of only four men (Woods, Mickelson, Duval) to complete a hat trick of wins so early in a season.
Walker held off a happy Jim Renner who had made none of nine cuts heading in, and two time champion Dustin Johnson.
Renner and Johnson both bagged $580,800; for Dustin the money is almost insignificant, for Renner it goes a long to retaining his card and gets him a spot in this weeks Northern Trust Open.
Walker held a slippy five footer for par on 18 to win $1,188,000 and pull clear on the Fed Ex Cup points list from Harris English. He also now looks a strong favourite to make his Ryder Cup debut on Team USA in Gleneagles.
With his lead down to one on the 18th tee, Walker switched driver for long iron on the advice of his caddie and made a gutsy par.

âI felt like I was hitting it pretty good and I struggled with the speed of the greens coming in.â
âI think it's cool because I think that it seems every time I've won a golf tournament, it's under different circumstances; things happen; you never can tell what's going to unfold in front of you,â Walker said. âI learned that having a big lead's tough. And I think I learned a lot today about what to do, what kind of shots to hit.â
He certainly has. Next up its Riviera for Walker, as he bids to keep rewriting the history books.
