Support Cian Curley Through Pledge Sports Novel New Funding Platform
Irish Europro Tour golfer Cian Curley is part of a new online funding platform launched today by Pledge Sports. Cian is one of six of Irelandâs most promising sports stars seeking funding from the public through the revolutionary new platform which offers donors various rewards packages based on amounts pledged.
Since turning pro in 2011, Curley has played on the Europro Tour and gone to Q School twice. Now working with new coach Noel Fox, Cian has been putting in long hours of practice at Carton House ahead of the 2014 Europro season. Heâs hoping good form there will result in a step up to the Challenge Tour.
âI think it's essential for Irish guys who turn pro to get opportunities to play in Challenge Tour events,â Cian said at todayâs launch. âThis not only provides good experience but also provides an opportunity to gain some playing rights and not have to solely rely on the Q school.â
âI really believe I have learned so much over my years as a pro and I now have what I need in place to help me get to where I want to be. My ambition is to make a career out of this game and this year is where I can really start making some big strides.â
The Pledge Sports concept is based on âcrowdfundingâ, defined as the collective effort of people who pool money and network to support other people or businesses.. $5.1bn was raised globally through crowdfunding last year and is expected to double in 2014 to over $10bn.
All donations to Cian will go to allay the costs associated with gaining a foothold as a Touring Pro such as travel, tournament entry costs etc.
