How did I forget in that the Hunter is married to ex Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Kandi Harris? Hunter got some stick in Phoenix from the fans on the 16th who taunted him with âKandi kissed Romo,â alluding to Cowboys QB Tony Romo! It didnât seem to bother Mahan who notched up an impressive T4, his best since the T4 at the BMW Câship last September. Traditionally a good early season player Iâm watching Hunter closely over the next few weeks. Second to DA Points (youâll remember his chest bump with Bill Murray) in 2011 and has the straight driving and course management skills to do the job this week.

What a stellar story this past few months have been for star gazing enthusiast Jimmy and it doesnât need to stop here. Added the Sony Open to his Frys.com win last October and weâll forgive him for missing the cut at the Farmers. Pebble Beach and Monterey Peninsula are the two of the shortest courses on the PGA Tour with Spyglass Hill not far behind; perfect then you would think for Walkerâs game. And so it has proven over the past three years with three top 10âs including T9âs in 2011 and 2012 and a T3 last year when Brandt Snedeker won. Keep a telescopic eye on him this week.
Two time winner at Pebble Beach in 2009 and 2010, one time Major loser at Pebble Beach in 2010 (when GMac picked up the US Open). Johnson has two top 10âs besides in 2008 (T7) and 2012(T5) and is heavily fancied again this year even with the likes of Mickelson, Day and Spieth also in the field. Dustin has been in the top 12 in his last four events, including a win in China at the WGC HSBC Champions in November and a T6 at the Tournament Of Champions. One half of the Posh and Becks of golf!

Tied for seventh on his first look in 2013 and now with 45 PGA Tour starts under his belt looks a real contender. Great recent form too with a win at The Humana sandwiched between a T16 at the Hyundai TOC and a T19 last week in Phoenix. Itâs a 54 hole cut this week with the final 18 on the iconic Pebble Beach with an average score of 15-19 under winning over the past five years. Reed currently ranks sixth in the âbirdies or better conversionâ stats and heâll get plenty of chances on these short tracks this week.
I know how much you all love a massive odds winner and there are two players that you might consider this week. Spencer Levin 125/1 is from Sacremento, about 190 miles from Pebble Beach and has a T4 in 2011 and T9 in 2012 already in this tournament. He missed the cut at The Farmers but scored a T29 in Phoenix. Also went to college in the University of California, so certainly worthy of a home player punt this week.
Irish fans will always be looking to the form of Padraig Harrington who can be got at 110/1. I like Padraig in this Pro-Am format, because heâs charming and personable and maybe the distraction from over thinking his own game might be a good thing. Showed in his T5 at the Volvo Golf Champions in Durban that he can still contend and though he missed cuts in Abu Dhabi and Phoenix, Padraig will always be a force to be reckoned with in seaside golf. Tied for seventh here two years ago.
