Where To Go If Your Kid Is Really Good At Golf- GolfCollegeIreland
While you are checking your facebook status or stuck into another episode of Game Of Thrones, is your child chipping balls into a washing machine better than Rory McIlroy? Or maybe you are a youngster finishing second level education that is beating the tar out of everyone at golf but canât quite figure if thereâs a future in it for you. Every year so many kids set off with tunnel vision to become the next Tiger Woods, unaware of the process, the pitfalls and even the standards required to forge a career in the golf industry. For every one you hear of that makes it, there are countless more that tried, failed and found themselves back at square one several years later. Now, someone is shining a light at the end of that tunnel.
Golf College Ireland is a new programme backed by the GUI and ILGU that is designed to help second level school students contemplating a career in golf. The programme aims to guide serious young golfers through to a successful career goal, be that out on Tour or as a PGA teaching professional, by enlisting a team of experts from every facet of the game.
Donal Scott who heads up Golf College Ireland says âWeâve seen so many potentially great golfing kids who have missed out on university, or failed to get a golf scholarship, or who simply chose the wrong course, just because they received no help or just poor advice. Our Elite Performance Programme aims to further our studentsâ prospects both on and off the course by surrounding them with a team of top industry professionals from across the golfing spectrum.â
The inaugural programme kicks off this September at the National GUI Academy in Maynooth and will see Irelandâs next generation of golf professionals receive tuition not only in the game of golf itself at the GUIâs National Training Academy and internationally at Winter training camps, but in areas such as strength and conditioning, fitness, flexibility, golf psychology, media and education. The course also features guest tutorials from full time Tour players and those who have won scholarships and attended university in the USA.
GolfCollegeIreland is more enrolling at www.golfcollegeireland.com and from this September will be forging the next generation of Irish golfing superstars.
