Marc Warren 25/1
Marc may not be super consistent but he has impressed greatly in some of the bigger tournaments. A tied second at Wentworth in the European Tourâs flagship event is his best of the season but the Scot might point to his tied 12th at Oak Hill a few weeks back as probably his most satisfying result. After opening with a 74, Marc posted three superb rounds in the 60âs. A past winner at Gleneagles in 2007, Marc comes in this week on a high.
Stephen Gallacher 25/1
Another Scot who made the Oak Hill cut was Stephen Gallacher. A big winner at the Dubai Desert Classic early doors Stephen has had a rock solid season with only three missed cuts. The Gleneagles expert with four top 15âs in the last five years, including tying for sixth in 2012 and 2011.
Brett Rumford 40/1
The worldâs hardest player to tip up! Brett has missed his last three cuts and would have missed the other at the WGC if they had one, but I still think he has the game for Gleneagles. Solo second last year and if I recall correctly that included having a triple bogey and two bogeys in four holes during his third round. Brett was untouchable at The Ballantines and China Open in May so count him out based on form. Also second here in 2010.
Bernd Wiesberger 20/1
Didnât play here last year (if I remember correctly) but tied for second in 2011. Bernd is coming off missed cuts at The Open and US PGA, but has four top 15 finishes in his last five European Tour starts including a third at The Nordea and a tied fourth in Germany. Has to be due a big win soon.
Thomas Bjorn 22/1
Tommy put in a huge effort to find a âWâ earlier in the season but it hasnât come yet. This week however represents another real chance. He won here in 2011 beaten George Coetzee in a playoff and tied 10th in his defence last year. Had five top 10âs in seven events earlier in the season (including seconds in Austria and Germany) before running out of steam at Castle Stuart. If heâs refreshed, Bjorn can win.
Best Of The Rest
If you a couple of long odds shots to watch for the progress of Gary Boyd at 300/1. Gary has finished in the top 20 in the last three years and shot a 64 on Saturday last year. Simon Wakefield was second to Marc Warren in 2007 and at odds of 200/1.
