No decision yet from Tiger

Tiger Woods is still expected at Valhalla for the US PGA Championship despite his back injury

Tiger Woods has not yet ruled out playing in the final major of the season - this week's USPGA Championship.

His agent Mark Steinberg revealed on Monday evening that the American could wait until Wednesday before deciding on his participation.

The former world No 1 was forced to pull out midway through Sunday's final round at the Bridgestone invitational after injuring his back.

The USPGA Championship starts in Kentucky on Thursday - but as it stands Woods is scheduled to play despite his breakdown at the weekend.

And Steinberg confirmed no decision has been made.

"Way too early. He has to rest and get treatment and then assess later," he said. "Pointless to make that decision now without proper time to give him best chance. Nothing further today, maybe (not) even tomorrow (Tuesday)."

Woods was scheduled to have a press conference at 2.30pm UK time on Tuesday but that has been cancelled.

Sky Sports News correspondent James Haddock, reporting form Valhalla, said: "His caddie Joe LaCava has been on the course, walking all 18 holes doing his prep should his boss decide that he is fit enough to turn up here.

"His courtesy car is still here outside the clubhouse but there is huge question mark over this back injury. He is still officially entered for this week's event, he has not contacted the US PGA.

The 38-year-old Woods underwent back surgery in March, ruling him out of action until the Congressional on June 26.

He missed the cut by four shots in that event but reported no problems with his back after playing all four rounds of the Open Championship at Royal Liverpool last month.
