TaylorMade Adidas Lay Off 16 Adams Employees. “Synergies” Mentioned

It was always going to be tough for TaylorMade and Adams to co exist in the golf world, and though the parent company TaylorMade Adidas most likely wanted to leave well enough alone after the join, they have clooneenow laid off 16 Adams Golf staff.

TaylorMade CEO Mark King mentioned finding “synergies” which said to me that possibly several jobs were being duplicated within the two strands, and that did not make business sense.

Adams flag bearer on the Champions Tour Kenny Perry said “I loved those guys. Those guys were very instrumental in helping me win the (Schwab) cup last year. They are very smart people. Bummer.”

King said the layoff followed a tough year in 2013 although his comments read otherwise.

“We did $120 million in Adams and did $104 or $105 million the year before, so it's up about 15 percent,” King said of the Adams trading in 2013. “This year we think it'll go up again about another 15 or 20 percent, and the following year we think it'll actually have better growth because we will really have traction outside the United States, and there's pretty good interest for it.”

It’s all Up In The Air!
