Slieve Russell Pro-Am 2013 â€" One of Ireland’s most celebrated Pro-Ams for Irish PGA Professionals returns with new weekend dates.

The pro-am, which always attracts a top quality field, takes place on the 8th & 9th June 2013, at its traditional home of the Slieve Russell Hotel Golf & Country Club and remains one of the highest prize funds on the Irish PGA Pro-Am calendar of events.

First played in 1993, the Pro-Am has become one of Ireland’s most celebrated events for Irish PGA professionals with many famous players supporting it over the years including major champion Padraig Harrington and European Tour players Des Smyth, Christy O'Connor Jnr, Eamonn Darcy and more recently Damian McGrane, Peter Lawrie and David Higgins from Waterville who won last year’s event for the third time.

The tournament is a Pro-Am team competition comprising one Professional with three amateur golfers and is played over 36 holes with one round being played each day. Upwards of 40 teams are expected to compete to make it a memorable golfing weekend.

The Resort

The Slieve Russell Hotel Golf & Country Club is also one of Ireland’s top 4-star resorts with 222 luxury star bedrooms, 18 hole championship golf course, 9 hole academy golf course, clubhouse, extensive practice facilities, the Setanta and Conall Cearnach restaurants, Kells Bar, Ciúin Spa & Wellness Centre and an extensive swimming pool and leisure complex. The Course

Forming part of a magnificent 300-acre estate, including 50 acres of lakes, our highly acclaimed 18-hole championship course is sensitively wrapped around the lakes and the drumlins of the County Cavan landscape. The course presents a wonderful challenge and the devilishly tricky greens present a searching examination of accurate approach play, which adds to the enjoyment factor. With a variety of tee options on each hole, the golf course is a suitable challenge for golfers of all abilities

Whilst every hole on the golf course is a challenge, the par 5 13th is the signature hole on the golf course with its fairway hugging the shores of one of the course’s natural lakes offering a risk/reward opportunity on every shot.

Not surprisingly the complex has always proved very popular with visiting golf groups from all over Ireland, the UK and Europe and many return on a regular basis to sample our renowned hospitality.

The Slieve Russell has hosted some major European Challenge Tour and Irish PGA Tournaments. These include, the Buzz.com North West of Ireland Open and the Irish PGA Championship.

The media centre at the 2013 PGA Show was buzzing yesterday.  Not because of anything that happened at the show.  God forbid! When I rocked in, several men (and one woman) were gathered around an iphone ogling and sharing  two pics of who they claimed were Holly Sonders naked. Now I have to hold my hands up and say, I had to google her to find out she’s from The Golf Channel. I don’t watch the Golf Channel because I don’t have an erectile dysfunction problem or need to rent a car from National.  I’m told adverts for both are all that’s on that channel. Sarah Stirk Nipple Gate: Navy Top Leaves Viewers Disappointed

London: Sky Sports management this morning issued a statement  apologizing to subscribers after Sarah Stirk wore a navy dress live on air.  It is believed up to 60,000 horny golfers were left limp after they tuned in to final round coverage of the Valero Texas Open in the hope of getting a glimpse of the legendary Stirk starter buttons. “I pay my subscription, I’m bloody well entitled to see Sarah’s Wimbledon strawberries” said factory worker Paul Manning 52 from Hereford. “I even missed the ten minute freeview, coz my mate Derek tweeted that Stirk was going into the shot centre for ten minutes at 11pm”. The Sky statement read: We apologize unreservedly for the navy dress Sarah wore during last nights broadcast, through which no nipples were visible. This was due to a wardrobe malfunction. However we do intend to rectify this during our US Masters coverage and assure viewers that plenty of bridge rivets will be on show, both from Sarah and special guest Colin Montgomeri

Holly Sonders Quits Golf Channel After Contract Talks Fail. Moves To Fox.

Tissues at the ready guys as this will come as a shock to you all that Holly Sonders , the female face of the Golf Channel, has quit and reportedly taken a job with Fox Sports. According to  reports Sonders, who appeared regularly on “Morning Drive” since 2011, could not come to an agreement on a new contract deal with the Golf Channel and was quickly snapped up by Fox Sports where she is expected to work on golf and NFL.
