Branden Grace 55/1

george bush faceNothing was ever going to match last season’s four wins for Branden Grace but a good run all the way to the semi finals last week at the World Matchplay, might just instil some confidence. Notched up three top 10’s on the Tour’s African and Eastern swing and since then has concentrated exclusively on the PGA Tour, without success. Finished fifth last year and seemed to have the measure of these difficult greens.

Justin Rose 12/1

rose flared nostrilsRose’ missed cut at Sawgrass was his first since September 2012, during which time he never finished outside the top 25 in 12 strokeplay events. Having come second twice already this season in Abu Dhabi and Bay Hill, he surely deserves a win soon. Tied for second here last year with a greens in regulation clip of 73.6%. Needs one good putting week.

Lee Westwood 14/1

westwoodAnother Englishman now playing his trade on the PGA Tour and has already passed the $1 million mark in season earnings. Lee has five top 10’s, four of them coming in his last four events; Houston (T10), The Masters (T8), Wells Fargo (T4) and The Players Championship (T8). Tenth in total driving on the PGA Tour this season should stand him in good stead this week. Memorably lost a playoff to Donald in 2011.

David Horsey 75/1

david_horsey_1_lg_thumb[3]David’s last Tour start was the Open deEspana in mid April so he got in some practice at the Astbury Hall Classic on the Euro Pro Tour last weekend. He didn’t do too bad either, just losing out to James Hepworth in a playoff. Before his break Horsey had notched up three consecutive top six finishes at the Avantha Masters (T6), Trophee Hassan II (T2) and the aforementioned Open de Espana (T4). Tied for seventh on the revamped Wentworth layout two years ago.

Best Of The Rest

siemMarcel Siem 60/1 added the Trophee Hassan II title to his Open de France win from 2012 and is finally fulfilling his massive potential. Since then he has also notched up a top 10 in Texas but missed the cut last time out in Louisiana. Siem tied for seventh last year with impressive greens in regulation and putting stats.
David Lynn 60/1 has decided to return from the PGA Tour to play the Summer series of European Tour events. With two top 10’s including a recent playoff loss at the Wells Fargo, it remains to be seen whether his decision to return will be a lucrative one. Has the game and form to contend.
Not Playing: It’s a struggle these days for Robert Karlsson 65/1 on the PGA Tour, which includes having to Monday qualify for tournaments. However last time out at the Wells Fargo the former European Tour Order Of Merit winner tied for fourth. He might just be worth a little flutter this week at long odds.
