Only Legends Defend The Masters. Is Adam Scott A Legend Yet?
Iâm reading a lot of pieces lately telling me that Adam Scott is going to win The Masters. He is around 10/1 with the bookies, but I wouldnât be so sure if backing him to win is a good idea.
Yes he is one of the few players capable of absolutely blitzing the field (see rounds one and two at Bay Hill) and having the tournament wrapped up by Saturday. Yes he has already the most recent Green Jacket wearer.

But heâs also capable of pulling every putt left and not being able to correct it (see final round in Bay Hill). There also something else that will really affect Scott negatively this year that people rarely mention. Thatâs the huge media and PR commitments that will distract him from his golf next week. Iâm talking Champions Dinner, engagements with Augusta members, the countless interviews, press conferences and being pulled and dragged left and right around the plot. Trust me, itâs a huge pain in the arse and very disruptive.

Perhaps even more significant however is that only true legends of the game have ever defended at Augusta, namely Tiger, Jack and Nick Faldo. They all had the ability to cocoon themselves mentally in a place that made them able to cope with all the peripherals and still play great golf.
