Boo Weekley finds himself in hot water with the PGA Tour this morning after being ejected from the RBC Heritage pre-tournament past Champions Dinner. It's the sixth consecutive year Weekley has been forceably escorted from the event.
Tournament organizers scrapped the tradition of the defending champion choosing the Champions Dinner menu in 2009 after 124 Hilton Head members and former winners went down with food poisoning after consuming Weekley's "Gourmet Gator Surprise".
Boo Weekley finds himself in hot water with the PGA Tour this morning after being ejected from the RBC Heritage pre-tournament past Champions Dinner. It's the sixth consecutive year Weekley has been forceably escorted from the event.
"We all love Boo," said tournament director Steve Wilmot after the incident "but since he won in 2008 he has shown up here every year carrying a stinking 400 pound alligator and insisting on barbecuing it for the members on the shoreline."
"It's as if Boo is stuck in Groundhog day when it comes to The Heritage," said Wilmot "or Ground-gator day as the case may be. When is he going to realize this behaviour is not accpeptable?"
Weekley appeared on the Golf Channel's Morning Drive show to explain the incident.
"A'm happier than a tornado in a trailer park," he said. "Wilmot is so dumb he couldnât find water if he fell out a boat. Everybody loves gator! I'll whup his ass so bad he'll holler 'Y'all stop.' and it'll be just me."
More as it emerges.
