Chinese Copies: How To Spot A Fake Titleist Iron
Thanks to reader Finnian O Dochartaigh for highlighting these Chinese copies of Titleist irons.
On first look these irons on diytrade.com look pretty convincing. And at $170 for the set, it looks too good to be true. And if something looks too good to be true, it generally is!
So lets look at a close up of these iron heads compared to a real Titleist 712 CB iron. Can you spot any difference?
How about now?
The differences are immense. The shape for one is completely different. The fake iron is clearly cast not forged. The stamping of the logo and the CB are wrong, the positioning of the muscle is way off. And we havenât even looked at their attempts at a dynamic gold shaft.
Buyerâs beware!
