2013 Greenbrier Classic Betting Preview, Tips and Predictions

Webb Simpson 16/1

220px-Webb_Simpson_croppedA near miss at the RBC Heritage and good solid showing at the Players , the US Open and two weeks ago at TPC River Highlands (T5) for Webb tells me he has a great shout this week. Bossed this event for three rounds last year but a run of three consecutive bogeys on the back nine Sunday dropped him into a tie for seventh. He also top 10’d in 2011.

Scott Stallings 33/1

iAfter a run of three top fours at the Crowne Plaza, Memorial and St Jude, the bubble finally burst for Scott Stallings as he missed the cut at the AT&T National last week. He was however the winner here at White Sulphur Springs in 2011 and won the True South Classic in July last year. Lengthened in the odds after last week but don’t let that deter you.

Graham DeLaet 25/1

graham_delaetGraham’s 72nd start on the PGA Tour and he has been super solid of late with five consecutive top 25 finishes including a third at the Travelers, then a T8 last week at Congressional. Tied 12th last year, just couldn’t find the birdies on Sunday. He will do this time around on current form.

Roberto Castro 45/1

rob-castroThree rounds under 70 last week at Congressional bagged Roberto Castro solo second, his best finish of his 45 event PGA Tour career to date. Also shot a Friday 64 and Sunday 63 here on the Old White course last year to tie seventh. Man in form coming to a place where he knows he can score, Castro must feel like Beckham in a niteclub right now.

Andres Romero 80/1

andesIt’s my annual Andres Romero punt. Only for the brave mind you. Romero had such immense potential when he started on Tour, nearly won The Open and got a W on the PGA Tour in 2008. Always plays his best at this time of year, he tied 24th at The Travelers and 13th last week. A strong putter, Romero tied fourth here in 2011.

Best Of The Rest

Why not have a piece of Ken Duke at 80/1? It’s a par 70 here, with only two par 5’s, both on the back nine. Ken won two weeks ago but for my money both he and Webb were the only two players not to push on on Sunday at last year’s Greenbrier. Might be a little wrecked though, he hasn’t had a break since winning.
