Raphael Jacquelin 55/1

No doubt will be the home favourite again this week. Won the Open de Espana in late April and has been steady since. Tied 22nd at the Irish Open last week shedding a lot of shots on Sunday with a 76. Jacquelin played beautifully here last year to finish in third and he’s sure to be lifted by the perennially excellent crowds in Paris.

Martin Kaymer 14/1

After a good performance at the HP Byron Nelson where he tied fifth, I was hoping that might signal a resurgence from the German but he found Wentworth and Merion just too tough in the following weeks. However after his getting it to 15 under to tie fourth at the BMW International Open, I think Martin could be in for some consistent performances. Golf National is the perfect fit for his next appearance. He won here in 2009 (what a Sunday putting performance), tied sixth in 2010 and fourth in 2011.

Francesco Molinari 34/1

Returned from a missed cut at Merion and put in two full days of range work at the Irish Open. Shot a fabulous 64 in the final round here last year, which included a double bogey on the first, but was just pipped to the post by German Marcel Siem. The Italian also tied second in 2010. This Golf National course isn’t for everyone but certainly should suit Francesco.

Pablo Larrazabal 36/1

The 2008 champion in Paris had a decent week at the Irish Open and but for Sunday 75 he really could have contended. However a fourth place finish after missed cuts in Austria and Germany is to be welcomed. The Spaniard tends to maintain form when he finds it as evidenced by a run of four top 15’s including two close shaves in Asia earlier in the season.

Alejandro Canizares 75/1

Canizares may not be everyone’s cup of tea on the course but he does tend to play well on the tougher layouts. Top 10’d last week in Carton House and before that at Wentworth (T4). Lost in a playoff here in 2010.

Best Of The Rest

Joost Luiten34/1 might not have course form here in Paris but he’s easily the best performing player on the European Tour right now. Four top 11 finishes in his last five starts include a win in Austria and a tied second at the Irish Open. Michael Van Gerwen step aside, Joost is firing the straightest arrows in Holland!
Danny Willett (entry TBC) missed 12 weeks between finishing fifth at the Tshwane Open and tying 32nd on his return at the BMW PGA at Wentworth. Tied 13th in Germany and was back in the top 10 at the Irish Open. Building in form ahead of a possible tilt at this Open de France. Like Soren Kjeldsen, Willet has three top 15’s in the last five years.
