Kevin Na 33/1

naReturned to action for the first time since The Masters last week at the Frys.com Open after being sidelined for most of the season with bulging disks. And what a return he made finishing T3, with an eagle and 23 birdies. Moreover he finished second in strokes gained-putting which could be a huge indicator for this week on a course he won on 2011. Na is playing on a medical exemption and has been granted 17 starts to earn another $244,619 to keep his card. He may only need one.

Brooks Koepka 33/1

koepkaOkay Brooks stumbled late on at the Frys last week but it was only tournament number 13 and that’s all part of the learning curve for the young American. We here in Europe have enjoyed seeing him win three times on the Challenge Tour this season and even contend in Switzerland (T7) on the main tour. He banked $240,000 last week for his troubles and could be on his Special Temporary Membership of the PGA Tour. It will be sad to lose him from Europe but Koepka, like Uihlein are destined to be big PGA Tour stars.

Nick Watney 18/1

Nick Watney Nike Funny Pic[6]Anyone betting against Nick Watney this week need to have their head examined. Todd Anderson’s swing fixes clicked for Nick late in the season and he enjoyed a superb playoff series with a top 10’s at The Barclays (T9) and BMW Championship (solo 2nd) and tied 14th at the Tour Championship. This event is one which the Vegas resident would dearly love to win; his three consecutive top 10’s in the last three stagings include a solo second to Kevin Na in 2011.

Spencer Levin 50/1

levinTemper temper! Also playing on a medical extension Spencer Levin impressed with a T12 at the Frys last week which included only six bogeys all week. Levin has 27 more starts to make the half million he needs to retain his status and is another I think could put a big chunk in that this week. Levin absolutely loves Summerlin; he didn’t play in 2012, but tied fifth in 2011 and tied fourth in 2010.  Can do well if he stays calm!

Ryan Moore 25/1

mooreDefending this week but still available at a generous 25/1. Ryan Moore went to college in Las Vegas and is now a resident. Will be itching to get back to playing this week after tying 11th last time in the BMW Championship a month ago. On a cut streak of eight events (the longest I can remember), Moore is known as a good late season performer. Or early in 2014 PGA Tour terms.
