2013 Portugal Masters Betting Preview Tips and Predictions

Oceânico Victoria Golf Club, Vilamoura, Portugal

Tom Lewis 30/1

tom lewisA self-professed links fan, Tom shared third spot with Shane Lowry in Scotland and in doing so retained his playing privileges for next season. Without that weight on his shoulders Lewis can enjoy his return to Portugal where he won weeks after turning professional in 2011.

Shane Lowry 25/1

lowryShane Lowry is again finding form late in the season. Had a fantastic week at the Dunhill Links where he shot 64 in Carnoustie and eventually tied third. Arrives back in Vilamoura as the defending champion where his final round of 66 saw him edge out Ross Fisher by one.

Hennie Otto 85/1

ottoSure to be lining this event up for a big performance is Hennie Otto. The South African is a very popular figure with those associated with this event and I’ve been charting a much improved formline over recent months. Otto has four top 15 finishes in his last seven events and contended well into the final round at the Dunhill Links.  Please please please stay calm Hennie!

Ross Fisher 25/1

RossFisherWe’ve tipped Ross Fisher a couple of times late in the season and he’s made us good each way returns on our investments. Tied fifth earlier in the month at the Omega European Masters and tied third at the KLM Open both notable for excellent final rounds. Now ready to win again, Ross has already been second (2012) and tied third (2008) on the Victoria Course.

Peter Lawrie 100/1

Peter_LawrieDesperate times require desperate measures. Peter Lawrie has been a regular on the European Tour since 2003 but coming to the end of this season finds himself in 111th position in the Race To Dubai and in need of a big performance to secure playing rights for next season.  Was in position to win here after three rounds in 2009 but shot a disappointing Sunday 76 to miss the chance. Testament to the man, Peter returned in 2010 and shot four rounds in the sixties and tied sixth, and again featured in 2011 with a T11.  This week is HUGE for Peter.

Best of The Rest

Steve Webster tied second in Italy (with our own David Higgins) and had an emotional victory here in 2007. The Victoria Course is one of the shortest on Tour, perfect for Webbie. Also watch out this week and on into the big money final events on the European Tour for Tommy Fleetwood. I suspect his Gleneagles win won’t be his only one of 2013.
