The Course: TPC Southwind is a 7,239 yards, par 70 former dairy farm southeast of Memphis. Upgrade work in 2008 added yardage and Bermuda grass greens. The course consistently ranks among the top 20 in driving difficulty on the PGA Tour, and with relatively small undulating greens, the test doesn’t let up.

Robert Karlsson 40/1 Ladbrokes, 33/1 Paddypower

karlsson funnySad to see Robert’s decline as a real force on Tour but he still has the unenviable record of being unbeaten through 144 holes at TPC Southwind in 2010 and 2011, yet didn’t win. On both occasions the Swede was beaten in a playoff. Scored a fourth at Quail Hollow last month and gave a good account of himself last week at The Memorial.

Scott Stallings 33/1 Ladbrokes, 33/1 Paddypower

ScottStallingsSCStallings is a PGA Tour winner in each of the last two seasons and turned things around recently after a run of four missed cuts with a tied fourth at Colonial and another great performance at The Memorial last week. The form dog.

John Merrick 50/1 Ladbrokes, 66/1 Paddypower

merickIt’s always hit or miss with John Merrick, but he’s now a Tour winner, beating Charlie Beljan in a playoff earlier this year to win the Northern Trust Open. Merrick was second on his own at the St Jude Classic last year after his greenside birdie chip on 18 lipped out handing Dustin Johnson the win. Tied 26th last time out at Colonial.

Ryan Palmer 20/1 Ladbrokes, 28/1 Paddypower

palmerRyan Palmer is another player who’s swinging the club beautifully at the moment. Tied fifth at The Players and his tied 14th last time out at Colonial included a first round of 62. Recovered from a poor first round to finish tied third here last year.

Best Of The Rest

Kevin Stadler 100/1 has played solidly over the past two years and led the GIR stats in 2012. He has missed his past three cuts however, hence the generous odds. Camilo Villegas 66/1 scored his first top 10 in two years at the RBC Heritage and Colombian has had some good performances on this course. Tied third in 2011 and tied eighth the previous year.
