You may love the Old Course even more after reading this book

Lovers of Augusta National get an annual peak at their favorite golf course each spring. Those who feel similarly charmed by the Old Course, which shares architectural roots with the Georgian layout, don’t get nearly the same amount of viewing time.

The new book, Links to St. Andrews: Love Letters to the Home of Golf, allows Old Course’s devotees as much face time with the venerable course as they want. And conveniently enough, it’s a collection of writings by kindred spirits who love the Home of Golf.

If you haven’t yet become a fan of the Old Course, with all its unique aspects, Links should get the job done. There have been numerous books written about St. Andrews, so this new one had a lot to hurdle to make it stand out. It does that brilliantly, beginning with the heft and size. The book weighs six pounds and measures 10 by nearly 14 inches.

Joshua C. Evenson and Carol Haralson conceived the book for Pinwheel Press. They broke the contents into chapters on lasting impressions, St. Andrews the town, commentary on individual holes, competing, lives linked to the game, women and how the world feels connected to the Old Course. Dozens of commentaries range from the greats such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson and Gary Player to today’s stars such as Rory McIlroy. Others featured include many Old Course aficionados you’re not familiar with showing that the course appeals to the greatest and the least of golfers.

There is a full collection of vintage artwork, photos and illustrations throughout that beautifully tie in with each chapter.

At $150 (available at linkstostandrews.com), the book is cheaper than getting to the Old Course itself, and it allows you to experience the aura of St. Andrews every time you pick it up.

The media centre at the 2013 PGA Show was buzzing yesterday.  Not because of anything that happened at the show.  God forbid! When I rocked in, several men (and one woman) were gathered around an iphone ogling and sharing  two pics of who they claimed were Holly Sonders naked. Now I have to hold my hands up and say, I had to google her to find out she’s from The Golf Channel. Sarah Stirk Nipple Gate: Navy Top Leaves Viewers Disappointed

London: Sky Sports management this morning issued a statement  apologizing to subscribers after Sarah Stirk wore a navy dress live on air.  It is believed up to 60,000 horny golfers were left limp after they tuned in to final round coverage of the Valero Texas Open in the hope of getting a glimpse of the legendary Stirk starter buttons. “I pay my subscription, I’m bloody well entitled to see Sarah’s Wimbledon strawberries” said factory worker Paul Manning 52 from Hereford. “I even missed the ten minute freeview, coz my mate Derek tweeted that Stirk was going into the shot centre for ten minutes at 11pm”. The Sky statement read: We apologize unreservedly for the navy dress Sarah wore during last nights broadcast, through which no nipples were visible. This was due to a wardrobe malfunction. However we do intend to rectify this during our US Masters coverage and assure viewers that plenty of bridge rivets will be on show, both from Sarah and special guest Colin Montgomeri

Holly Sonders Quits Golf Channel After Contract Talks Fail. Moves To Fox.

Tissues at the ready guys as this will come as a shock to you all that Holly Sonders , the female face of the Golf Channel, has quit and reportedly taken a job with Fox Sports. According to  reports Sonders, who appeared regularly on “Morning Drive” since 2011, could not come to an agreement on a new contract deal with the Golf Channel and was quickly snapped up by Fox Sports where she is expected to work on golf and NFL.
