Hank Haney: Jordan Spieth will wind up with better record than Rory Mc

Who ultimately will have the best career â€" Jordan Spieth, Jason Day or Rory McIlroy? Instructor Hank Haney casts his vote for Spieth. “I think Jordan will wind up with the best record of the three,” Haney told John Huggan of the Scotsman. “He has that internal motivation that is second to none right now. He has had no issues with his body. And he is best in putting, the part of the game that is hardest to improve.”

Paul McGinley, Olympic team leader for Irish golfers, is concerned that McIlroy (a Northern Irishman who has chosen to represent Ireland) might get sidetracked by focusing on what Spieth or Day is doing, Brian Keogh of the Irish Golf Desk reports. “The important thing for Rory is not to over-react to what they are doing,” McGinley said. “Rory is a streaky putter. He is never going to putt like Jordan Spieth and he is absolutely right. He is not going to mechanise his stroke to be the best putter in the world because that is not his strength.”

The new Chinese owners of the Wentworth Club, site of two Ryder Cups and home of the BMW PGA Championship, has run afoul of the members, who “have been informed…they will have to pay a £100,000 [$153,000] debenture as well as an annual fee of £16,000 [$25,000],” James Corrigan of the Telegraph writes. “How many of the current membership will sign up on these terms is a moot point, but considering the atmosphere at the annual general meeting at the famous Surrey on Tuesday night, the answer is probably not many.”
