Thanks to Rich Beem, Ian Poulter will be eligible for next year's Ryde

Ian Poulter will spend most of Tuesday making a last-minute long trip to China to play in this week's Hong Kong Open. Why? So that he has a chance to make a trip to Hazeltine next September to play in the Ryder Cup.

Not following? We don't blame you.

Poulter needs to play in 13 European Tour events this year to be eligible for the biennial matches that have been the highlight of his golf career. Poulter planned on playing in the HSBC Champions in Shanghai next month, but since he just fell out of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking on Monday, he's no longer qualified. The Telegraph's James Corrigan first reported on Poulter's sudden change of plans.

How does one enter a tournament so late? This is where the story really gets crazy. Poulter has to switch spots with one of the tournament sponsor's invites. And who was willing to do that? An American very familiar with Hazeltine having won the 2002 PGA Championship there, Rich Beem.

Something tells us U.S. Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III won't be showing Beem the same hospitality if we see more moments like this next fall:

The media centre at the 2013 PGA Show was buzzing yesterday.  Not because of anything that happened at the show.  God forbid! Sarah Stirk Nipple Gate: Navy Top Leaves Viewers Disappointed

London: Sky Sports management this morning issued a statement  apologizing to subscribers after Sarah Stirk wore a navy dress live on air.  It is believed up to 60,000 horny golfers were left limp after they tuned in to final round coverage of the Valero Texas Open in the hope of getting a glimpse of the legendary Stirk starter buttons. “I pay my subscription, I’m bloody well entitled to see Sarah’s Wimbledon strawberries” said factory worker Paul Manning 52 from Hereford. “I even missed the ten minute freeview, coz my mate Derek tweeted that Stirk was going into the shot centre for ten minutes at 11pm”. The Sky statement read: We apologize unreservedly for the navy dress Sarah wore during last nights broadcast, through which no nipples were visible. This was due to a wardrobe malfunction. Holly Sonders Quits Golf Channel After Contract Talks Fail. Moves To Fox.

Tissues at the ready guys as this will come as a shock to you all that Holly Sonders , the female face of the Golf Channel, has quit and reportedly taken a job with Fox Sports. According to  reports Sonders, who appeared regularly on “Morning Drive” since 2011, could not come to an agreement on a new contract deal with the Golf Channel and was quickly snapped up by Fox Sports where she is expected to work on golf and NFL.
