Rory McIlroy To Return To Haiti Before US Masters

rory haiti World number one golfer and UNICEF Ireland Ambassador, Rory McIlroy, today announced that he will visit Haiti next week, on a humanitarian mission to support UNICEF’s life-saving work in the country. The current US PGA golf champion will spend April 1st and 2nd meeting children and families in Haiti to see how their lives have changed since his last visit *two years ago, and three years after the devastating 2010 earthquake. Whilst in Haiti, Rory will visit schools and communities that are benefiting from UNICEF-supported projects to improve child health and education through the provision of clean water and improved hygiene.

Peter Power, Executive Director of UNICEF Ireland, said: “We’re thrilled that Rory has decided to support our work by taking time out from his busy schedule to assist our on-the-ground efforts to transform the lives of children in Haiti. While progress has been made since his last visit, there is still a great deal of work to do to ensure that every child in Haiti has access to health services, education and clean water.
As a global golf superstar, Rory is a role model for so many children throughout the world and his dedication to improving the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable children is inspiring.
This is Rory’s second visit to Haiti. From his last visit, he has a clear understanding of the challenges which children here face on a daily basis. Haiti was devastated by the 2010 earthquake and the people of Haiti have suffered a great deal. We are responsible for ensuring that children there are not only given a chance to live and be healthy, but also to thrive.”
Speaking today, Rory McIlroy said: “Thankfully, I have experienced some success in recent years and this is an opportunity for me to use that success to support a great organisation. It has been nearly two years since my last visit to Haiti and I’m really excited to be going back. Haiti is an inspiring and humbling country where children face daily struggles and deprivation unnecessarily. If my presence there helps to create international awareness of the difficulties Haitian children face, then I am delighted to help.
During my last visit, I witnessed daily life for some of the world’s most vulnerable children. UNICEF’s great work in Haiti is helping to combat disease and change lives. Their work is something I am extremely passionate about and admire.”
Rory McIlroy has been an Ambassador for UNICEF Ireland since 2011 when he took part in his first field visit to Haiti. This visit will come a week before the 2013 Masters Tournament in Augusta.

The media centre at the 2013 PGA Show was buzzing yesterday.  Not because of anything that happened at the show.  God forbid! Sarah Stirk Nipple Gate: Navy Top Leaves Viewers Disappointed

London: Sky Sports management this morning issued a statement  apologizing to subscribers after Sarah Stirk wore a navy dress live on air.  It is believed up to 60,000 horny golfers were left limp after they tuned in to final round coverage of the Valero Texas Open in the hope of getting a glimpse of the legendary Stirk starter buttons. “I pay my subscription, I’m bloody well entitled to see Sarah’s Wimbledon strawberries” said factory worker Paul Manning 52 from Hereford. “I even missed the ten minute freeview, coz my mate Derek tweeted that Stirk was going into the shot centre for ten minutes at 11pm”. The Sky statement read: We apologize unreservedly for the navy dress Sarah wore during last nights broadcast, through which no nipples were visible. This was due to a wardrobe malfunction. Holly Sonders Quits Golf Channel After Contract Talks Fail. Moves To Fox.

Tissues at the ready guys as this will come as a shock to you all that Holly Sonders , the female face of the Golf Channel, has quit and reportedly taken a job with Fox Sports. According to  reports Sonders, who appeared regularly on “Morning Drive” since 2011, could not come to an agreement on a new contract deal with the Golf Channel and was quickly snapped up by Fox Sports where she is expected to work on golf and NFL.
