2013 Maybank Malaysian Open Betting Preview And Tips

Maybank Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur G&CC, Malaysia

also check out my Arnold Palmer Invitational Tips here.

Charl Schwartzel 6/1

charl schwarenegger[6] Charl will definitely be on my Masters shortlist again this season. He’s finished in the top 20 in his last eight events with close shaves for a win coming at the Joburg and Northern Trust Opens on both Tours. His sixth place here last year included following a stunning first round 64 with an awful 75. Rested since the WGC Cadillac, Charl will be looking to strike a blow on the Masters run in.

Rafa Cabrera Bello 25/1

Since the event moved to Kuala Lumpur in 2011, Rafa has done well here with two podium finishes. Tied fourth in 2011 and bettered it with a tied third last year. Showed good form in his first four weeks this season on the European Tour finishing all in the top 25 but then endured horror trips to Pebble Beach and Doral where he ended a combined 19 over for the two events. Let’s hope Rafa can put that behind him back on familiar ground this week.

Stephen Gallacher33/1

Like Cabrera Bello, Stephen Gallacher’s trip to the WGC Cadillac in Florida didn’t prove fruitful but he’ll still be confident on his first European Tour start since his big win in Dubai a few weeks back. Shadowed Louis Oosthuizen all the way into second here with a great greens in regulation performance last year.

Kiradech Aphibarnrat 50/1

The Barn Rat has long been a favourite of our co sanctioned event tipping. The Thai made money for us in this event in 2010 in Saujana when he tied third at ridiculous odds and with a fourth last week in India, don’t be surprised to see a good innings again this week.

Best Of The Rest

Victor Dubuisson 40/1 closed with a 67 last week in India to edge into the top 10, his second such placing in his last three starts. The Frenchman is just missing that spark to contend but it may come this week on a course he’s familiar with. Shot three rounds in the 60’s on his way to a T11 here last season. Emiliano Grillo 80/1 starts only his 30th Tour event this week and is progressing nicely with four top-10’s already under his belt. Good recent form augers well.
