2012 Portugal Masters Free Golf Betting Preview and Tips

Winner Alright

Last week we tipped Ryan Moore to win The Shriners
and Danny Willett tied fifth at 90/1 paying out each way on some bookies

Francesco Molinari 15/1

fran The man who slayed Tiger Woods (well sort of) returns to Portugal this week to a course that seems built for his game. Where distance off the tee might be a factor every other week, it plays no part in Villamoura as Molinari proved in both 2009 and 2010 when he tied for second. But for Lee Westwood getting a fortunate drop on the 17th then playing a miracle pitch, Molinari would have been the victor here in 2009. The top three last year finished outside the top 25 in putting but inside the top six in greens in reg stats giving a good indication of what this course requires. Right up Francesco’s street. Will he be wearing his blonde Marilyn Munroe wig Sunday night?

George Coetzee 32/1

George-Coetzee_1137519[4] It’s all South Africa right now on the European Tour. Branden Grace may have won the tournament but George Coetzee must have been one of the happiest men leaving St. Andrews Sunday night after climbing 58 places up the leaderboard with his stunning final round of 62 which equalled the course record. Add to that the fact that George went 66, 65 here at the weekend last year to tie third and you have a real live contender this week at generous odds.

Rafa Cabrera Bello 26/1

Cabrera-Bello A sure thing for future Ryder Cups but cant have any arguments with not getting a Captain’s pick for the Medinah win. This week Rafa returns from a month off, refreshed and ready to go one better than his second place finish last year. Top tenned in Gleneagles and in Turin in his last two starts and certainly one to watch this week.

Fredrik Andersson Hed 55/1

fred head Freddie tied for fifth last week in Scotland even though he got nothing going in his level par final round. The veteran Swede has been in good form of late too with two podium finishes in Gleneagles and Crans Sur Sierre in his last five starts. Has a best of tied third here in 2007 and also scored a top 10 in 2009. Generally keeps his form going for a couple of weeks so don’t overlook Freddie The Hed.

Steve Webster 65/1

webster The €82,000 Steve won last week after his final round 64 in Scotland will have allowed him a huge sigh of relief as it lifts him to 107th on the Race To Dubai rankings and all but secures his playing privileges for next season. I expect Webbie to bring the happy vibe to Portugal this week, a course on which he claimed an emotional victory in 2007 shortly after the passing of his mother. He’s done well since too on this Victoria course since too with a tied third in 2008 and a T16 last year, six shots off the winning total.
