The Presidentâs Cup Is Boring Rubbish Say Europeans; âDont Make Us Cheer For Vijayâ
Who here remembers Ian Poulterâs birdie run at the Ryder Cup? Or Nico Colsaerts getting possessed by some kind of golfing devil? Or Justin Rose flexing his shoulders when his raking putt dropped?
Now who here remembers anything from the last Presidentâs Cup? Who even won? Probably the USA. They pretty much win them all. And are the Europeans amongst us really supposed to cheer for Vijay Singh? Something needs to be done to spruce up The Presidentâs Cup and itâs not just me thinking that. So does International team captain Nick Price.
Under the current system there are a whopping 34 points on offer, six more than at The Ryder Cup. Itâs these extra matches that Price believes is constantly favouring the Americans.

"That is what's lacking,â said Price. âUntil such time as that happens, I don't want to say it's going to flounder but it's not going to get to the next level. And everything needs to get to the next level to survive.Supreme leader, ruler and PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem, told Price and Ernie Els who also advocates change, to go and take a running jump.
"American players have always been a little bit anti at the Ryder Cup, saying, 'Oh, the Europeans are sitting out those players because they are not playing very well.' Well this is the glass half-full, half-empty syndrome
"When you've only got four pairings and you've got 12 guys to choose from, that's a lot easier because you take your best players.
"The Europeans put out the eight best players they can. It would be really interesting to see if the Ryder Cup was played under the Presidents Cup points system what the outcome would be."
