Jason Dufner wins the PGA Championship with incredibly solid final round

When the final round of the PGA Championship began on Sunday, nobody had any clue who would win, but with such a stacked leaderboard we knew it would take a great final round to take home the Wanamaker Trophy.

Jason Dufner did exactly that at Oak Hill, playing an incredibly solid round considering the fact that he had never won a major championship and was playing with so many big names right around him.

Dufner's Sunday 68 was much better considering he made two bogeys over his last two holes, something he was able to do considering the lead he extended for himself over the first 16 holes.

Dufner had some rattled moments this week, starting with that birdie putt on the 18th hole for 62 on Friday, but every little putt he seemed to mishit never bothered him. Dufner has as much confidence in his golf swing as anyone in the game right now, and kept hitting driver down the middle of the fairway and irons right over the flagstick.

Jim Furyk, who had the lead heading into the final round, didn't necessarily play a bad final round, he just couldn't get it going like Dufner, and the two bogeys Furyk made over his final two holes didn't help and kept the pressure off Dufner.

And, frankly, this was the major championship that Dufner was going to win. In the last four years he's finished in the top-5 three times, and has quickly become one of the more steady players in the game.

Back in 2011 it was Dufner, not Keegan Bradley, that looked like they'd be the unlikely PGA Championship winner, but some bad swings on his way in left the door open for Bradley, who ended up beating him in a playoff at Atlanta Athletic Club.

This time around it was Dufner who kept his foot on the gas from start to finish on Sunday, hitting golf shot after golf shot in a way that made it look more like he was playing the John Deere Classic and not the PGA Championship.

This Dufner win might have been a surprise to some, but not so much if you look at how he's played the last few weeks. A T-4 at the U.S. Open in June was the start of his improved play and was the first top-10 of his season, and he had another T-4 at the Bridgestone Invitational a week ago.

Now Jason Dufner is a major champion. Not a bad way to end a great 2013 major season.

The media centre at the 2013 PGA Show was buzzing yesterday.  Not because of anything that happened at the show.  God forbid! Sarah Stirk Nipple Gate: Navy Top Leaves Viewers Disappointed

London: Sky Sports management this morning issued a statement  apologizing to subscribers after Sarah Stirk wore a navy dress live on air.  It is believed up to 60,000 horny golfers were left limp after they tuned in to final round coverage of the Valero Texas Open in the hope of getting a glimpse of the legendary Stirk starter buttons. “I pay my subscription, I’m bloody well entitled to see Sarah’s Wimbledon strawberries” said factory worker Paul Manning 52 from Hereford. “I even missed the ten minute freeview, coz my mate Derek tweeted that Stirk was going into the shot centre for ten minutes at 11pm”. The Sky statement read: We apologize unreservedly for the navy dress Sarah wore during last nights broadcast, through which no nipples were visible. This was due to a wardrobe malfunction. Holly Sonders Quits Golf Channel After Contract Talks Fail. Moves To Fox.

Tissues at the ready guys as this will come as a shock to you all that Holly Sonders , the female face of the Golf Channel, has quit and reportedly taken a job with Fox Sports. According to  reports Sonders, who appeared regularly on “Morning Drive” since 2011, could not come to an agreement on a new contract deal with the Golf Channel and was quickly snapped up by Fox Sports where she is expected to work on golf and NFL.
