2013 ISPS Handa Perth International Betting Preview and Tips
Paul Casey 9/1
The new beginning that looked likely after Paul won the Irish Open hasnât quite happened yet but I think 2014 could be a big year for the Englishman. No top 10âs since Carton House but Casey has been anything but poor, making all but one cut since. Two poor rounds blighted his Saturday 62 at the Dunhill Links and something similar happened Paul in Perth last year. A Friday 75 which to be fair included some rotten luck effectively took away his chance of winning, but he still rallied to a T5. With little or no wind forecast again this year, I expect Casey to be at the business end again.
Ross Fisher 14/1
I donât mean to sound like a broken record but Iâm sticking with Ross Fisher again this week. Granted itâs his first look at Lake Karrinyup but itâs a course that should suit him and a field devoid of many of the big names. We saw last year how Jason Dufner and Bo Van Pelt demolished the course so Ross need not fear it. Rallied to a Sunday 66 in Portugal to tie eighth; thatâs three top 10âs in his last four starts. If he can acclimatize fast, this might just be Fisherâs week.
Marcus Fraser 28/1
The best of the home contingent for me. Marcus took six weeks off between the KLM and CIMB Opens in 2012 and didnât play here but will be looking forward to it this year as he brings good form in. Dunhill Links missed three round cut aside, Marcus top 20âd in Switzerland and Holland then tied eighth in Italy even with a final round of 74. If he can get that putter humming watch out.
Tour Card Last Chance Saloon
This week is the last chance for many players to secure their Tour cards for next season. Robert Coles 100/1 at 155th needs a big week to vault into the top 110 and keep his card. He played well in Portugal last week but followed a third round 64 with a Sunday 73 to finish 26th. Robert also performed well here last year T15, so heâll be grinding.
My man David Higgins 150/1 also arrives at the last chance saloon in 115th spot after his brilliant second at the Italian Open. I know David has the game to contend every week, he just needs to believe this is the one.
And finally keep an eye out for Chris Paisley 125/1 this week. Heâs at 121st in the Race To Dubai and tied 12th at the Dunhill Links. When he makes the cut Chris always does well, so job number one in Perth, make the cut Chris!
