2013 WGC Accenture Matchplay Golf Betting Preview and Tips. Match By Match Predictions

We’ve had great success over the past couple of weeks with our strokeplay predictions, so we can afford to have some fun this week.  All sense of form and logic always goes out the window in the desert but nonetheless we’ve gone through the brackets match by match to pick our winners.

Here we go.

Bobby Jones Bracket

Charl Schwartzel  18/1

Charl Schwartzel hasn’t been outside the top-5 in his last five events and has a second in Joburg and third in Riviera in his two starts already this season.  I see him progressing to the final of the Jones bracket where a possible match with Rory McIlroy awaits.  As to who is using their Nike clubs best at the moment, it has to be Charl.  He lost to Sang Moon Bae narrowly last year and Bae went on to have a great tournament.  Tiredness may be a factor.

Ben Hogan Bracket

Matt Kuchar 35/1

Kuch showed us what he could do in the opening round at Riviera last week, shooting a 64.  He always seems at ease at Dove Mountain cruising to the quarters last year and winning the consolation third in 2011.  I can see an Els vs Kuchar final in this bracket, with Kuchar edging it to face Schwartzel in the semi finals.

Gary Player Bracket

Peter Hanson 66/1

Hanson’s odds will be generous given that he will face Tiger Woods should he progress to the second round.  However I think Hanson wont be phased by Woods and given the way he dealt with Ernie Els and Brandt Snedeker last year, I believe he can progress to a bracket final with Lee Westwood.  That could be a short game battle in which I fancy the Swede.

Sam Snead Bracket

Henrik Stenson 50/1

I think there is scope of lots for upsets in this bracket.  Stephen Gallacher is coming off a recent win and will be a handful for Ian Poulter.  John Senden will do as he always does and quietly progress through his matches. However the man for me here is Henrik Stenson.  I think the match between Stenson and Donald will come to pass, with the winner becoming the favourite for the title.  I give it to Stenson who seems back to his very best; he’s a renowned match player and a former winner.

 

Semi Final Predictions

Stenson Vs Hanson:  I take Stenson to win this all Swedish affair

Kuchar Vs Schwartzel: The bubble has to burst for Charl at some stage and Kuchar could edge this.

Final Prediction

Stenson Vs Kuchar:  Stenson to win his second WGC title.

The media centre at the 2013 PGA Show was buzzing yesterday.  Not because of anything that happened at the show.  God forbid! When I rocked in, several men (and one woman) were gathered around an iphone ogling and sharing  two pics of who they claimed were Holly Sonders naked. Now I have to hold my hands up and say, I had to google her to find out she’s from The Golf Channel. Sarah Stirk Nipple Gate: Navy Top Leaves Viewers Disappointed

London: Sky Sports management this morning issued a statement  apologizing to subscribers after Sarah Stirk wore a navy dress live on air.  It is believed up to 60,000 horny golfers were left limp after they tuned in to final round coverage of the Valero Texas Open in the hope of getting a glimpse of the legendary Stirk starter buttons. “I pay my subscription, I’m bloody well entitled to see Sarah’s Wimbledon strawberries” said factory worker Paul Manning 52 from Hereford. “I even missed the ten minute freeview, coz my mate Derek tweeted that Stirk was going into the shot centre for ten minutes at 11pm”. The Sky statement read: We apologize unreservedly for the navy dress Sarah wore during last nights broadcast, through which no nipples were visible. This was due to a wardrobe malfunction. However we do intend to rectify this during our US Masters coverage and assure viewers that plenty of bridge rivets will be on show, both from Sarah and special guest Colin Montgomeri

Holly Sonders Quits Golf Channel After Contract Talks Fail. Moves To Fox.

Tissues at the ready guys as this will come as a shock to you all that Holly Sonders , the female face of the Golf Channel, has quit and reportedly taken a job with Fox Sports. According to  reports Sonders, who appeared regularly on “Morning Drive” since 2011, could not come to an agreement on a new contract deal with the Golf Channel and was quickly snapped up by Fox Sports where she is expected to work on golf and NFL.
