Ross Fisher 14/1
His chances at the Tour Championship effectively ended on Thursday with a poor opener, but still with five top 10âs in his last eight starts, Fisher will be one of the big fish this week at Glendower. I firmly believe if Ross can get his win; he can make a Stenson like return to the big table of golf.
Darren Fichardt 33/1
With Charl unbackable at 4/1 Iâve had to look elsewhere for value. Darren is one of my favourite South African players, especially on home soil. Won the 2013 Africa Open in February and nearly repeated the feat at the Tshwane Open the following week. A good top 10 in Munich was the highlight of his year in Europe and impressed with rounds of 64 and 65 in his T15 in Turkey.
Darren has finished par or better in each of his six events since being DQâd in Switzerland and at home will surely again be a danger man.
Alejandro Canizares 33/1
When he shot 73 on Sunday at the Turkish Airlines Open after three great rounds we concluded it was unfortunate; when he shot 75 on Sunday at the Tour Championship we began to worry. Iâm looking on the bright side however; Canizares is playing great golf, he wonât be in the same exalted company this week and has the tools to produce a good result here. Surely lightning wont strike three times?
Thomas Aiken 33/1
The Avantha Masters winner back in March had quite frankly a poor 2013 season after by his standards. However there were good signs in Turkey a couple of weeks back when Thomas got it to 15 under, and tied 15th, his best result in some time. Third last year behind Stenson and big George at Serengeti, this short Glendower track will be right up his street.
Long Odds Sneaks
Carlos del Moral 80/1, Mikael Lundberg 250/1
Spainâs Carlos del Moral was simply sensational on the Tour and Stadium courses at PGA de Catalunya last week at Q School and if he still has some of that euphoria pumping through his veins is well worth a sniff at 80/1. Mikael Lundberg also won his card at the school and all he needs is a sign in âRussianâ to get him in the mood!
