Longtime CBS golf announcer reveals he has Alzheimer's Disease - For The Win

Sad news from one of the most recognizable voices in golf.

In a Golf World profile published Monday, longtime CBS golf commentator Peter Oosterhuis announced that he has early- onset Alzheimer’s Disease and has known for about a year. Oosterhuis enjoyed a successful playing career before turning to the booth, notably forming a successful partnership with six-time major champion Nick Faldo at the Ryder Cup.

According to the story:

Oosterhuis has a hard time saying the official name of his diagnosis: early- onset Alzheimer’s … Now 67, Oosterhuis was given the bad news by a Charlotte neurologist last July. He had been aware of some memory loss that was affecting his commentary on CBS and Golf Channel. “Maybe in the course of my commentary, I wasn’t giving a lot of information like I used to; I would just talk about what’s on the screen,” he said. “But I didn’t feel like I had those things ready in my mind to call on to make a point, like I used to.” Still, he was surprised at the severity of the diagnosis.

For several months, he and his wife told no one. “It was so shocking,” says Roothie. “We were depressed. We were lost.”

Sarah Stirk Nipple Gate: Navy Top Leaves Viewers Disappointed

London: Sky Sports management this morning issued a statement  apologizing to subscribers after Sarah Stirk wore a navy dress live on air.  It is believed up to 60,000 horny golfers were left limp after they tuned in to final round coverage of the Valero Texas Open in the hope of getting a glimpse of the legendary Stirk starter buttons. “I pay my subscription, I’m bloody well entitled to see Sarah’s Wimbledon strawberries” said factory worker Paul Manning 52 from Hereford. “I even missed the ten minute freeview, coz my mate Derek tweeted that Stirk was going into the shot centre for ten minutes at 11pm”. The Sky statement read: We apologize unreservedly for the navy dress Sarah wore during last nights broadcast, through which no nipples were visible. This was due to a wardrobe malfunction. Holly Sonders Quits Golf Channel After Contract Talks Fail. Moves To Fox.

Tissues at the ready guys as this will come as a shock to you all that Holly Sonders , the female face of the Golf Channel, has quit and reportedly taken a job with Fox Sports. According to  reports Sonders, who appeared regularly on “Morning Drive” since 2011, could not come to an agreement on a new contract deal with the Golf Channel and was quickly snapped up by Fox Sports where she is expected to work on golf and NFL.
