Georgia into NCAA golf semifinals - Atlanta Journal Constitution

BRADENTON, Fla. - Georgia advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA golf championship with a 4-1 win over South Florida in the match-play quarterfinals Tuesday morning at the Concession Golf Club.

The No. 3 seed Bulldogs will play No. 7 seed LSU, which upset No. 2 seed Vanderbilt in another quarterfinal. Georgia and LSU were scheduled to face each other Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. for a spot in Wednesday’s finals, but a lightning delay pushed the start back to 2:10 p.m. The Bulldogs are pursuing their third men’s golf national title.

Georgia took control early, winning the first hole in four of the five matches against the No. 6 seed Bulls. The winning points were provided by Sepp Straka (3&2 winner over Chase Koepka), Zach Healy (2&1 winner over Trey Valentine) and Lee McCoy (4-up over Ryan Fricker). Healy and McCoy led the entire way, and Straka was in the lead for all but two holes.

The final two matches â€" Georgia’s Mookie DeMoss over Claudio Correa and South Florida’s Rigel Fernandes over Greyson Sigg â€" were conceded.
